CBC Lab Notes: Lymphocytes are small and well-differentiated. Consider these results with knowledge if the
species has a predilection for a higher lymphocyte count, clinical impression, and other diagnostic findings. There were many smudge cells on the submitted slides. The cell distribution was uneven on the provided smears. This may have affected the CBC results.

CBC Interpretation: mild heterophilia; HCT has continued to rise (from 20% at presentation); 3+ hemoproteus - rec to monitor as this is higher than typically seen

CBC comments:
The sample contained a large clot. This significantly alters the WBC determination. Make sure to
mix the sample well with the anticoagulant. An estimate was performed from the blood smear
to complete this CBC.

Electrophoresis Comments
The alpha 2 and beta globulins are increased and reflective of acute inflammation. Moderate to
marked increases in these fractions can be observed with nephritis, hepatitis, dermatitis, and
mycotic infection. Increases may also be observed with sarcocystosis and chronic chlamydiosis as
well as mycobacteriosis. Specific beta globulin proteins which often manifest as a monoclonal
appearing peak in this fraction are also increased in egg laying birds. Followup EPH may have
prognostic value in this case.

Since we assist fed the patient this morning, we are going to leave the food overnight to see if the patient is willing to eat on their own. Will reasses in the morning to determine if they continue to require assisted feeding. Patient's oral medications given PO instead of in food to ensure they received them.

056 did not eat AM food. Patient will receive maintenance SQ fluids through tomorrow to make sure patient is staying hydrated since the patient is not eating. If 056 does not eat overnight, Becky and I discussed tweezer feeding tomorrow morning. Becky and I also decided to switch to oral meloxicam tomorrow morning to avoid continuing to poke the patient's skin. Once the patient starts eating, PO medication can be placed in the food.

BAR/1 pellet/mutes normal/did not eat last night so all of PM food was leftover

056 did not eat PM food, so we gave another dose of injectable meloxicam for AM treatments.

Additionally, Becky and I noted stringy saliva upon examination of the oral cavity of this bird. We were concerned that mild dehydration was present because of this observation and since 056 did not eat last night. As a result, we gave 18 mls of maintenance fluids SQ in addition to the previously listed treatments.

Problem list: 1. Asymmetry in clavicle
2. Instability in R shoulder
3. Chorioretinal scarring OD
3. Detached retina OS
4. Uveitis OS
5. Blepharospasms OS
Assessment: It is likely that the chorioretinal scarring in the right eye is a chronic issue. The uveitis has likely be present in the left eye for a few days. Asymmetry was noted in the clavicle and instability of the right shoulder was present. The clavicular changes found are likely acute as a result of trauma from suspected hit by a car. Radiographs are necessary to confirm the location of the instability and determine if a fracture is present.
Plan: Tx: 0.14 mls of 1 mg/kg meloxicam was given IM. If 056 eats overnight, will switch to 1 mg/kg oral meloxicam BID. Ketorolac was given OU, will continue OU BID. Can be moved inside and bloodwork and rads will be done pending AI clearance.
Prognosis: Fair
